Terms and Conditions
Last updated: 6 August 2026
These Terms and Conditions govern the use of www.guide-ile-maurice.com and all travel planning services, guided experiences and related services offered under the name Barefoot Mauritius.
By requesting a quotation, confirming a booking or making a payment, you confirm that you have read, understood and accepted these Terms and Conditions.
1. About Barefoot Mauritius
Barefoot Mauritius is operated by Ansinbioz Ltd, a company registered in Mauritius.
Registered address: N32 cite Jules koeing Beau-bassin
Business Registration Number: C22188612
Email: contact@guide-ile-maurice.com
WhatsApp: +230 5844 9392
In these Terms, “Barefoot Mauritius”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to Ansinbioz Ltd trading as Barefoot Mauritius. “Client”, “traveller”, “you” and “your” refer to the person making the booking and all persons included in that booking.
The person making a booking on behalf of a group confirms that they are authorised to accept these Terms for every participant and will communicate all relevant information to them.
2. Our services
Barefoot Mauritius provides:
- personalised travel planning and itinerary design;
- guided experiences hosted directly by Barefoot Mauritius;
- recommendations and coordination of activities provided by selected independent partners;
- local assistance before and during a client’s stay, where included in the selected service.
The exact scope of each service will be stated in the relevant quotation, itinerary, booking confirmation or written agreement.
3. Travel planning services
Our travel planning service is priced at €55 per day of travel, unless a different price is confirmed in writing.
The full amount is payable through PayPal before any research, itinerary creation or reservation work begins.
The service begins with a discussion about your interests, travel style, preferred pace, budget and expectations. Recommendations are created using the information you provide.
Once research, consultation or itinerary creation has started, the payment becomes non-refundable because professional time and resources have already been committed to creating your personalised journey.
A personalised itinerary represents professional planning work and local expertise. It does not guarantee that every suggested location, activity, restaurant, accommodation or supplier will remain available or unchanged.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, the travel planning fee does not include accommodation, transport, meals, entrance fees, activities or services supplied by independent providers.
4. Booking confirmation
An enquiry, discussion or provisional itinerary does not constitute a confirmed booking.
A travel planning booking becomes confirmed when:
- you have accepted the proposed service and price;
- the full payment has been received through PayPal; and
- Barefoot Mauritius has issued written confirmation.
An experience becomes confirmed when Barefoot Mauritius has issued written confirmation of the date, meeting time, group size, price and agreed payment method.
Depending on the experience or independent provider involved, advance payment through PayPal may be required. Where payment in cash on arrival has been accepted, the client remains responsible for attending the confirmed experience or cancelling within the applicable cancellation period.
You are responsible for checking that the names, dates, group size, selected services and other details contained in the confirmation are correct. Any error should be reported promptly.
5. Prices and payments
Prices may be displayed or quoted in euros, Mauritian rupees or another currency stated in the quotation.
Travel planning
Personalised travel planning services must be paid in full through PayPal before work begins.
Expériences
Experiences may be paid:
- in advance through PayPal; or
- in cash in Mauritius, where this has been agreed in the booking confirmation.
Some experiences operated by independent partners may require an advance deposit or full payment. Any such requirement will be clearly communicated before the booking is confirmed.
Any bank, card, PayPal or currency-conversion fees charged directly by the payment provider are outside our control.
Barefoot Mauritius reserves the right to suspend or cancel a booking if a required payment is not received by the stated deadline.
6. Changes requested by the client
Requests to change dates, group size, itinerary or selected services must be submitted in writing.
We will make reasonable efforts to accommodate changes, but availability cannot be guaranteed. A change may result in an adjusted price, particularly where suppliers, transport arrangements or additional planning work are involved.
Significant changes requested after a personalised itinerary has been approved may be charged separately. Any additional fee will be communicated before the work is carried out.
7. Cancellation by the client
All cancellations must be communicated in writing by email or WhatsApp. The effective cancellation date is the date on which Barefoot Mauritius receives the written request.
Travel planning
A full refund may be requested before any consultation, research, reservation or itinerary creation has started, less any non-recoverable PayPal transaction costs.
Once work has started, the travel planning payment is non-refundable. If Barefoot Mauritius is unable to provide the service before work begins, the amount paid will be refunded.
Expériences
Unless different conditions are communicated before booking:
- more than 72 hours before the scheduled start: advance payments may be refunded, less non-refundable supplier charges and payment-processing costs;
- between 24 and 72 hours before the scheduled start: advance payments are retained, but one opportunity to reschedule may be offered, subject to availability;
- less than 24 hours before the scheduled start, or in the event of a no-show: advance payments are non-refundable.
Arriving late may shorten the experience. If the delay prevents the experience from operating safely or affects other participants, it may be treated as a no-show.
Where cash payment on arrival has been agreed, late cancellations and no-shows may result in the client being required to pay in advance for any future booking.
Where an independent provider is involved, that provider’s cancellation and refund conditions may also apply.
8. Cancellation or changes by Barefoot Mauritius
Safety always comes before the itinerary.
We may change, postpone or cancel an experience due to:
- unsafe weather or trail conditions;
- official warnings or access restrictions;
- illness, emergency or guide unavailability;
- transport or supplier disruption;
- events beyond our reasonable control.
Where possible, we will first propose a reasonable alternative date, route or experience.
If Barefoot Mauritius cancels a service and no acceptable alternative can be provided, payments received for the service that cannot be delivered will be refunded.
This does not include unrelated expenses such as flights, accommodation, car rental or other arrangements booked independently by the client.
A change of route made for safety, weather, environmental protection or group ability does not automatically entitle the client to a refund when a meaningful alternative experience is provided.
9. Weather and natural conditions
Mauritius is a tropical destination, and outdoor experiences are affected by rain, wind, heat, sea conditions, visibility, tides and trail conditions.
Cloud, rain or reduced visibility alone will not necessarily result in cancellation. Barefoot Mauritius or the relevant licensed provider will determine whether conditions allow the experience to proceed safely.
Wildlife sightings, including dolphins, whales, turtles and endemic species, can never be guaranteed.
Sunrise, sunset, stargazing and viewpoint experiences are also subject to natural conditions. Specific colours, visibility or photographic results cannot be guaranteed.
10. Health, fitness and participation
You must inform us before booking of any medical condition, injury, allergy, pregnancy, disability, fear, swimming limitation or other circumstance that may affect participation.
Some activities require walking on uneven or slippery terrain, climbing, swimming, kayaking, exposure to heights or prolonged physical effort. It is your responsibility to read the activity description and assess whether it is appropriate for you.
Participants must:
- follow safety instructions given by the guide or provider;
- wear appropriate clothing and footwear;
- carry the required water and equipment;
- behave respectfully toward other participants, local communities and the environment;
- avoid participating while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
We may refuse or stop a person’s participation where their condition, equipment or behaviour creates a safety risk.
No refund will be due where exclusion results from withheld medical information, unsuitable equipment, intoxication or unsafe behaviour.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
11. Children and minors
Children must be accompanied and supervised by a responsible adult.
Parents or guardians are responsible for determining whether an experience is suitable for a child and for providing accurate information about the child’s age, health, swimming ability and physical condition.
Minimum ages or specific participation requirements may apply to certain activities and will be communicated where relevant.
12. Independent partners and third-party services
Some activities, accommodation, transport, boat trips, equipment rentals and other services are operated by independent providers.
When Barefoot Mauritius arranges or recommends a third-party service, the provider may impose its own booking, safety, cancellation and refund conditions. These will apply in addition to the relevant provisions of these Terms.
Unless expressly stated otherwise in writing, Barefoot Mauritius acts as an intermediary or experience curator for these services and does not directly control the provider’s staff, equipment or day-to-day operations.
We carefully select the partners we work with, but we cannot guarantee the continued availability or performance of an independent provider. We will nevertheless offer reasonable assistance if a problem occurs.
13. Accommodation, transport and other recommendations
Recommendations are based on local knowledge, available information and the preferences communicated by the client.
Unless Barefoot Mauritius is expressly identified as the contracting provider, any reservation made directly with a hotel, villa, transport company, restaurant or activity operator creates a separate contract between the client and that provider.
Clients are responsible for reviewing the provider’s final price, conditions, insurance and cancellation policy before confirming a booking.
14. Travel documents and insurance
Clients are responsible for ensuring that they hold valid passports, visas, entry authorisations, driving permits and any other documents required for travel to and within Mauritius.
We strongly recommend purchasing comprehensive travel insurance covering:
- medical treatment and evacuation;
- accidents during outdoor or water activities;
- cancellation and interruption;
- personal belongings;
- delayed or missed travel arrangements.
Barefoot Mauritius is not responsible for losses resulting from inadequate insurance or failure to comply with entry requirements.
15. Personal belongings
Participants remain responsible for their phones, cameras, bags, documents, money and other personal belongings.
Barefoot Mauritius is not responsible for loss, theft or damage unless directly caused by our proven negligence and subject to rights that cannot legally be excluded.
16. Photography and media
Photos or videos may be taken during experiences and shared with participants.
Barefoot Mauritius will request permission before using identifiable client images for public marketing purposes.
You may withdraw permission for future use by contacting us, although material already lawfully published may take time to remove from all channels.
Clients must respect the privacy of local residents and other participants before photographing or publishing identifiable individuals.
17. Website information
We make reasonable efforts to keep the website accurate and up to date. However, descriptions, prices, availability, schedules, photographs and routes may change.
Website content is provided for general information and does not replace the specific details contained in your quotation or booking confirmation.
In the event of a conflict, the written booking confirmation takes priority.
18. Intellectual property
Unless otherwise stated, the website’s text, branding, itineraries, travel documents, design and original photographs belong to Barefoot Mauritius or are used with permission.
Personalised itineraries and travel documents are provided for the client’s private use. They may not be copied, resold, published or used commercially without prior written permission.
Certain photographs are sourced from licensed royalty-free platforms and remain the property of their respective creators.
19. Personal data
Personal information is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable Mauritian data-protection legislation.
We use client information to respond to enquiries, prepare itineraries, process bookings, coordinate services, communicate important updates and comply with legal or accounting obligations.
Relevant information may be shared with selected providers only where necessary to arrange a requested service.
20. Liability
Barefoot Mauritius will provide its services with reasonable care and skill.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for loss arising from:
- inaccurate or incomplete information supplied by the client;
- a client’s failure to follow safety instructions;
- independent decisions or bookings made by the client;
- the acts or omissions of a third-party provider outside our reasonable control;
- weather, natural conditions, road closures, public restrictions or force majeure;
- indirect or consequential losses that were not reasonably foreseeable.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or restricts liability for fraud, wilful misconduct, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that cannot legally be excluded.
21. Force majeure
Neither party will be considered in breach of contract where performance is prevented by an event beyond reasonable control, including severe weather, cyclone, flood, fire, epidemic, government restriction, civil disturbance, strike, road closure or natural disaster.
We will communicate promptly and make reasonable efforts to offer an alternative, postponement, credit or appropriate refund, taking into account services already performed and non-refundable third-party costs.
22. Complaints
If a problem arises during an experience or trip, please notify us as soon as possible so that we have a reasonable opportunity to assist.
Formal complaints should be submitted to:
Email: contact@guide-ile-maurice.com
WhatsApp: +230 5844 9392
Please include the booking name, date, service concerned and a clear description of the issue.
We aim to acknowledge complaints within five working days.
23. Governing law and disputes
These Terms and any contract formed with Barefoot Mauritius are governed by the laws of Mauritius.
The parties will first attempt to resolve any dispute through good-faith discussion.
If no resolution can be reached, the courts of Mauritius will have jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory consumer rights that apply.
24. Changes to these Terms
Barefoot Mauritius may update these Terms to reflect changes in services, business practices or legal requirements.
The version applicable to a booking is the version communicated or available when the booking is confirmed, unless a change is required by law.
